Coulter Bay Village to Grey's River - Day 3
Bridger-Teton National Forest Camp: 7,814'
Mileage: 165
Day 3 (Sunday)
Our original thought was to continue north to Montana and camp in the Gravelly Range. After watching the forecast which had been calling for snow we decided to go ahead and start working south and bag going into Montana.
We had breakfast at the restaurant and then went out to enjoy the Tetons. We rode over to the shoreline of Jackson Lake where the snow dotted Tetons seemed to pop out of the water. We took our time leaving with a ride by Jenny Lake and a roll through the campground.
This is the second time I've seen the Tetons and hope it's not my last. This is a place I'd like to come back to and explore backpacking someday.

We left the Tetons National Park intending to take Moose Wilson Rd along the Snake River but, they had closed the route for bear activity just as we turned onto the road. We made an alternate route to Alpine Junction with a fair amount of slab. But, it was still very pretty. We stopped for lunch at the Bull Moose in Alpine, WY. With full tanks, in both bikes and bodies, we headed to Grey's River Rd.
Grey's River Rd. (FR 10138) follows the Grey's River past where it ends near La Barge Guard Station. This was a good road with great views. I even saw a bald eagle soaring above the river. As nice as it was, there was a surprising amount of traffic which also meant a lot of dust.
We past a game warden and stopped to chat with him for a bit. It was bow season for elk, first day of rifle season for mule deer and it's bear season - explains the traffic.
We turned off onto Smith's Fork Rd past the La Barge Guard Station cabin to a great campsite. We set up camp, fixed dinner and relaxed around a campfire.
